about
"We're both on this deathbed, only nobody's dead yet and I'm lying next to you, and I don't know what to do." This is the sound of a relationship dying. A universal feeling, an ere, an all too familiar feeling that you just can't do this anymore.
"Deathbed", the title track and 3rd single from J. Graves' forthcoming Deathbed EP, is writhing with pain, loss, frustration all while the entire song crescendos and culminates for one final admission of defeat, a concession, a death.
The songs "Time Travel" and "Deathbed" will release consecutively with two cyclical music videos that can be started in any order and will loop infinitely. This is a symbol of the cycles we experience in life, relationships, and with our own self-discovery.
As with all the songs on 'Deathbed', Graves wrote "Time Travel" while releasing her debut LP, 'Marathon', and while her relationship was crumbling around her. The Deathbed EP was engineered and mixed by Elly Swope at Destination Universe! and was mastered by Amy Dragon of Telegraph Audio. This EP was engineered completely by amazing women.
lyrics
Deathbed
We’re both on this deathbed
Only nobody’s dead yet
And I’m lying next to you
And I don’t know what to do
And it’s not a problem
Until it’s a problem
And nobody wants them
But everyone’s got them
And I’m lying next to you
And I don’t know what to do
And I’m not gonna call it
If you’re not gonna call it
But that’s what we wanted
So why don’t we drop it
And I’m lying next to you
And I don’t know what to do
Say, what you’re gonna say
Refuse to listen anymore so show me
Break, it’s not gonna break
It’s just another crack
On our surface
We’re both on this deathbed
Only nobody’s dead yet
And I’m lying next to you
And I don’t know what to do
And it’s not a problem
Until it’s a problem
And nobody wants them
But everyone’s got them
And I’m lying next to you
And I don’t know what to do
And I’m not gonna call it
If you’re not gonna call it
But that’s what we wanted
So why don’t we drop it
And I’m lying next to you
And I don’t know what to do
And I’m lying next to you
But we both know what to do

This album is amazing from start to finish! It's got such a cool, poetic, punk rock vibe. Hits the soul, for real. Please come play in Miami, Florida soon! Thank you for your art! richnice1975
Opener absolutely rips. Falls into the ranks of tracks like “Dance” by ESG, “Eisbaer” by Grauzone, “Damaged Goods” by Gang of Four or like the album description says Kleenex. This is some really good stuff. Favorite song is the opener but dedicate “Blue” to my friend Blue who lost her life at 22, she would have loved this album. TheBloodofChrist
