about
"Lo the Mourning," the lead single from J. Graves' forthcoming fall 2020 sophomore release 'Deathbed', is dripping with lament, dance beats, and one hell of a breakdown. Graves wrote the ‘Deathbed’ EP while releasing the band's debut LP, ‘Marathon,’ in the spring of 2019. She writes, "This is ambivalence. This is me wanting more, realizing I'm not going to get it, and what I've lost in the process. This is me admitting that things weren't ever going to be the same. This is me giving up."
lyrics
Lo the Mourning
I don’t know how old I am anymore
I can’t see the face I knew before
Used to hold it oh so close completely
I want you near me
What do I do
Seen it in the mirror before
You’ve grown some
I think you look lonesome
I think I do too
If I ever come back
If I ever come back
Try, tell me to make it through
Or we’ll fake it through
I know
If I ever come back
If I ever come back
Try, tell me to make it through
Or we’ll fake it through
I know
I’m holding my breath
Just to prove you wrong
I’m losing myself
Just to prove you wrong
I don’t need your maybe
I don’t need your maybe
Love me
Love me in the morning
Love me with no warning shots
This time
Love me
Love me in the morning
Love me with no warning shots
This time
Love me
Love me in the morning
Love me with no warning shots
This time
Love me
Love me
Love me in the morning
I don’t need your warning shots
This time
If I ever come back
If I ever come back
Try, tell me to make it through
Or we’ll fake it through
I know
If I ever come back
If I ever come back
Try, tell me to make it through
Or we’ll fake it through
I know
